St Johnstone midfielder David Wotherspoon has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2017.

The 25-year-old joined Saints in July 2013 from Hibernian and was part of the team which won the Scottish Cup for the first time after a 2-0 defeat of Dundee United at Celtic Park in May.

Manager Tommy Wright said: "I'm pleased that David's signed on for another two years."

A product of Saints academy, Wotherspoon, who was capped 16 times by Scotland U21s, signed professional terms at Easter Road in August 2009.

Wotherspoon made over 150 appearances for Hibs before returning to his home town club on a free transfer.
