Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald struggled to hide his disappointment after a last-gasp own goal from Dundee's Conrad Balatoni denied his side a crucial three Scottish Premiership points at Firhill.

The Jags had looked on course for a narrow victory following James Craigen's opener just before the hour, but Balatoni diverted Phil Roberts' cross past Paul Gallacher in the 90th minute to secure an unlikely 1-1 draw for the visitors.

That left Archibald regretting a string of missed opportunities to punish the Dark Blues on the break as they pushed men forward in search of their equaliser.

"I didn't see it coming, I thought we were comfortable to be honest," Archibald said. "Once we got our goal we looked ok, and it came from a deflection which you can't really do anything about.

"(Not killing the game off) is probably the biggest disappointment, when you lose a goal from a deflection in the last minute you always look at the other end as well and I thought when Dundee were pushing we could have picked them off by choosing a better option two or three times.

"There was some good defending by them as well getting some great blocks in, but I thought we should have picked them off.

"That's two home games in a row we've drawn one each and that's the difference, that's how we're not in the top six. St Johnstone today won 1-0 and they're grinding out 1-0 results, that's why they are in the top six."

Dundee manager Paul Hartley was glad his side managed to avoid the ignominy of their fourth straight league defeat, but he conceded they were fortunate to pick up the point that sees them move above Kilmarnock into seventh place, and has urged his men to improve their game.

"I'm happy with a point," Hartley said. "I didn't think it was a good game of football to be quite honest with you. We huffed and puffed a little bit.

"Once we lost the goal we lost a little bit of confidence, but we dug in right to the end and I thought the substitutions made a difference in terms of the pace of the team, but we've got to play better."
