Celtic moved three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership

Celtic manager Ronny Deila reflected on the 1-0 Scottish Premiership win over Partick Thistle with pride.

Defender Virgil van Dijk scored the decisive goal at Celtic Park to take the hosts three points clear at the summit of the table - and Deila was relieved to edge to victory.

The Norwegian said: "That's the goal. We want to keep on a winning run.

"We are on a good run, we have momentum and confidence and we want to continue now on Saturday against Motherwell to get three points.

"We were dominant almost the whole game tonight. We created chances and deserved to win.

"But it was an okay performance. Nothing more. I try to be positive but I have to think that we have played a lot of matches which is affecting the energy of the team.

"But they fought it and we got the three points and I am very happy."

Frustrated

Partick manager Alan Archibald added: "We frustrated them at times. Our 'keeper had to make a couple of great saves which we expected.

"We knew that the longer we stayed in the game, the heads wouldn't go down and at times we passed the ball okay and I was quite happy with that.

"The biggest disappointment was that we lost to a set-play. It took a scrappy goal at the end, we were too deep and we should have defended it better.

"But the attitude was the most positive thing. It would have been easy to come here, sit in and defend for 90 minutes but I don't think we did that, we tried to play."
