Aberdeen have confirmed their interest in signing former Blackburn and Dundee United striker David Goodwillie.

Goodwillie is available on a free transfer after cancelling his contract at Ewood Park last week.

The 25-year-old has been training with St Johnstone, but now Aberdeen are ready to enter the race for his signature.

Dons assistant manager Tony Docherty, who worked with Goodwillie at Dundee United, has confirmed the Scotland international is on their radar.

"I worked with Goody at Tannadice but he’s like other players on the list," said Docherty. "Teams are looking at him and he has been training with St Johnstone.
