St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has confirmed his interest in signing Blackburn Rovers striker David Goodwillie on loan.

Goodwillie spent the first half of this season on loan at former club Dundee United and he scored three times in 19 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, including a goal in a 4-0 win over St Johnstone in August.

Aberdeen and Oldham Athletic have also shown an interest in the 24-year-old, and Saints boss Wright is waiting to see if Goodwillie can be lured to McDiarmid Park.

Wright said in the Daily Record: "David is one we've enquired about so it will come down to whether we can get a deal that suits us, him and Blackburn.

"Other clubs with more financial clout are in for him but in football terms there isn't a better place to come than here.

"Joining us is a good opportunity to help anyone's career.

"David is one of a number of players on our minds but we are just one of several clubs interested in him. So it's really a waiting game now."
