Former Rangers striker Nacho Novo is close to agreeing a deal to join Greenock Morton until January, according to Sky sources.
The 34-year-old, who had a trial at Kilmarnock earlier this season that did not result in a contract offer, had been hoping to make a dream return to Ibrox.
Novo earlier this week told the Scotsman: "I always thought I would come back to Rangers and lots of things came out in the papers that (Ally) McCoist wanted to speak with me but it has never happened.
"You have to take that as obviously they don't want you, so that's football.
"You don't always get what you want and you just need to walk away and work hard."
The Spaniard, who was a fans' favourite at Rangers, has also played for Raith Rovers and Dundee as well as with Huesca and Sporting Gijon in Spain.
