Lassad Nouioui says young Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama is good enough to play "for any team in Europe".

The French-born Tunisia international has struggled to make an impact in his first season at Celtic Park since arriving from Deportivo La Coruna, unlike Kenya's Wanyama who has been a revelation since signing.

Wanyama moved to Glasgow from Beerschot in Belgium in 2011, six years after making his debut for his country against Nigeria in a friendly at the age of 15.

When asked who his player of the year would be, Lassad told the club website: "My first choice would be Victor but if I could pick two I would also pick Fraser (Forster).

"Victor could play for any team in Europe and has a great potential. He is an excellent player and when he's not playing, I don't think the team is the same."

"When I was in Spain at Deportivo, our goalkeeper was a very good one - Daniel Aranzubia - but Fraser is even better, so he must be very good.

Lassad insisted disruption to training at Celtic has been kept to a minimum despite the amount of international call-ups among the first-team squad.

He was one of only four players who have remained at Lennoxtown in the past week, and he added: "There are so many people away with their national team, and it's good for the team to have so many players playing for their country.

"When we are training with three or four players it's a harder session, more physical, but that's okay as we have to train and some of the younger boys have trained with us as well."
