Sky Sports understands a number of Scottish Premier League sides are tracking former Portsmouth defender Calum Angus.

Angus is available on a free transfer after leaving Swedish side GAIS when his contract expired in December.

The 26-year-old began his career at Portsmouth before taking up the offer of a scholarship deal in America.

Angus, who is set for a trial at Portland Timbers next week, is now hoping to fix himself up with a new club in the UK, and several SPL sides have expressed an interest in the stopper.

Angus' UK representative, William Glavin, has confirmed he is talking to several clubs about a move for the player.

"Calum has spent the past three seasons in the Swedish top flight but he is keen to ply his trade in another league with Scotland being one of his preferred options," Glavin told skysports.com.

"I am working closely with Calum's representatives to find a suitable club in the SPL and I will be discussing his availability with interested clubs in due course".
