Inverness Caley Thistle forward Andrew Shinnie has been told the ball is in his court as he considers the offer of a new contract from the club.

The former Rangers man, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, has been offered fresh terms to remain with the Scottish Premier League side.

Caley Thistle boss Terry Butcher admitted that the 23-year-old has yet to put pen to paper and that he must now decide where his future lies.

Shinnie has scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for Inverness this term, leading to speculation that he could be on his way to a club in the Championship or League One.

"I've spoken to both him and his agent, so it's now down to Andy," Butcher said. "He's not signed a contract, but there is one there.

"That's his decision and we respect that, but at the same time we would like to get it done and dusted.

"However, he's not signing at the moment, so we'll wait and see.

"The only news now will be if Andy does sign. That would be the next piece of good news that we could broadcast.

"Until that happens then he's not going to sign, so for me that's it, there's nothing else to say."
