Ross County's match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle is to be subject to a pitch inspection on New Year's Day.

Heavy precipitation in Easter Ross put paid to Saturday's fixture against Hearts and now Wednesday's game at Victoria Park is also under threat.

More rain is forecast for the Dingwall area on Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday and County manager Derek Adams is facing an anxious wait.

"It's looking doubtful because it's worse than it was on Saturday," said Adams on Monday.

"I think we'll call a pitch inspection on Tuesday and take things from there. Hopefully the derby match can go ahead and we pick up three points."

The derby is the last fixture before the winter break, with the league programme resuming on 19 January.
