Celtic midfielder Dylan McGeouch is aiming to use Saturday's Scottish Cup tie with Arbroath to force his way back into the first team.

The 19-year-old has managed just three appearances from the bench this season after breaking his jaw in pre-season, before suffering a medial ligament injury in training.

With Celtic boss Neil Lennon looking to rest players ahead of next week's UEFA Champions League decider with Spartak Moscow, McGeouch looks set to get the nod for the fourth round clash at Parkhead.

He said: "I twisted my medial ligament in training about a month ago, which put me out for a few weeks.

"I just got back into training a week or two ago and I have been on a few times as substitute. Hopefully the injuries are behind me and I can get back into it again.

"It is depressing to be injured because there is a lot of big games at this club, so missing out isn't the best.

"Hopefully I can get a good 90 minutes under my belt and show everybody that I'm back to full fitness.

"It's a good platform for me to get in the manager's plans and to keep the thought of me in his head and hopefully, if something comes up, he can trust me to play."
