Charlie Adam has voiced his backing for Craig Levein, who is expected to learn today whether he will continue as Scotland manager.

A seven-man Scottish Football Association board have been holding talks over the weekend about the future of Levein, who has come under increasing pressure due to the team's dismal start to the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Recent defeats by Wales and Belgium have left Scotland bottom of their qualifying group with just two points from four matches and it remains to be seen whether Levein will see out his current contract which runs until the summer of 2014.

But Stoke midfielder Adam insists the players remain firmly behind the manager and are confident they can turn around the team's disappointing form.

"They are delighted with what he's got and what he does and we're looking forward to hopefully picking ourselves up and putting the disappointment of Wales and Belgium behind us."

He told Sky Sports: "Because we've had a couple of bad results - we know that - you know we played well against Serbia, if we'd got the second goal against Wales we probably would have been home and dry and we would have been third in the group.

"The players, they cannot wait to meet up again. They are delighted with what he's got and what he does and we're looking forward to hopefully picking ourselves up and putting the disappointment of Wales and Belgium behind us.

"We can't reflect on that, we need to win against Luxembourg next month. We're going into February and we've got other qualifiers coming up so we're looking forward to that and hopefully we can get the right result."

Levein's assistant Peter Houston is unhappy with the way the SFA have debated about Levein's position.

"It shouldn't take so long if I am being honest," he said. "There is a decision to be made. You either want to keep Craig Levein as manager or you want to remove him.

"It shouldn't take two or three days of conference calls to do that. Is it nearly three weeks since the Belgium game?"
