Josh Magennis expects to return to defensive duties in Aberdeen's next game at Dunfermline on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old was moved from right-back to striker to help Aberdeen secure a 3-3 draw against Motherwell on Sunday.
Magennis scored his side's third goal in the final minute of injury time but says he is ready to return to a more familiar position.
He said: "The gaffer has told me that I'm a right-back now. I'll be thrown up front if it is needed, like it was against Motherwell.
"I would be happier if we had a nice two-goal lead and I got to stay at right-back and help defend it.
"The change paid off against Motherwell but I don't think we should have been in that position as we have enough quality to be winning games."
