Rangers have clarified that 17-year-old Barrie McKay has not signed a five-year contract with them but has agreed to do so.
According to the Scottish Football Association rules, the registration of a player under the age of 18 cannot exceed three years.
Rangers' statement about tying up McKay for the next five years sparked doubts on whether that would be rejected by the SFA, but the Glasgow giants have now cleared the confusion.

"The club can confirm it has agreed a long-term contract with Barrie McKay," reads a statement from Rangers.
"Reports in the press suggested the SFA would reject McKay's five-year deal as rules prevent players under the age of 18 from signing a contract of that length.
"For the avoidance of doubt, the club is well aware of the rule and at no time confirmed Barrie had signed a five-year contract.
"Barrie has pledged his future to Rangers for the next five years - as stated on the Rangers website on Tuesday evening."
Rangers are currently third in the Scottish Third Division with eight points from four matches, two points behind leaders Peterhead.
