Rangers manager Ally McCoist is hoping the club can agree new contracts to keep veteran duo Lee McCulloch and Neil Alexander at Ibrox.

McCulloch took over the captain's armband earlier this month following Carlos Bocanegra's loan move to Racing Santander, while Alexander is now first-choice goalkeeper following the departure of Allan McGregor in the summer.

Both players are out of contract at the end of this season, and McCoist anticipates talks to take place within the next couple of months.

McCoist told RangersTV: "There has been nothing planned yet but it goes without saying that they are players who are very valuable to the team and the club.

"I would imagine in the next couple of months or so that their representatives will be sitting down with the club to discuss extensions to their contracts.

"Hopefully from their point of view and from our point of view we can do some good business."

Rangers revealed on Tuesday that youngsters Barrie McKay, Lewis Macleod and Robbie Crawford had all penned long-term contracts.
