Sporting Lisbon remain unbeaten in the NextGen Series after beating a strong Celtic outfit 2-1 at Firhill Stadium.

Both sides started brightly, passing and moving off the ball superbly and it the Scots who broke the deadlock on 20 minutes through Denny Johnstone who finished well after some fine work out wide by Callum McGregor.

After going behind, the Portuguese seemed to up the tempo of their play, and caused problems for the Celtic defence. Marcus Fraser who captained the home side made some excellent challenges to deny Sporting but on the stroke of half-time Luri Medeiros slotted home to take the teams into the break at 1-1.

Sporting were positive after the break, and pressed hard for a second goal which eventually came fifteen minutes from time through substitute Luis Cortez.

Celtic matched their classy opponents throughout the nighty minutes and were so close to finding an equaliser in the final minute of added time when Patrick Twardzik struck inches wide. Sporting remain unbeaten and top Group four with six points.
