McCoist confident Bocanegra will stay at Ibrox

Ally McCoist has confirmed that Kirk Broadfoot will be allowed to leave Rangers but he is hopeful Carlos Bocanegra will stay at the club. A host of first-team regulars have already left Ibrox this summer and USA international Bocanegra has also been linked with a move elsewhere. However, McCoist says the 33-year-old remains a key part of his plans and he does not think there will be a departure before Friday night. "Carlos is still very much a Rangers player," said McCoist. "There has been no activity or movement or change in the situation regarding Carlos so he will hopefully be involved in our next few games and be here post-window, so that's where we are with Carlos. "The longer it goes, I would say the more chance of everybody staying."

Thanks

McCoist is attempting to build a squad before a 12-month transfer embargo comes into effect on September 1st, but one player who will not be staying is Broadfoot after an agreement was reached with chief executive Charles Green. The manager said: "Kirk has agreed with Charles and the club that his contract will be made null and void and he will be free to leave the club from today or tomorrow. "I think there are one or two issues still to be tidied up there but it looks like Kirk will be leaving the club. "We would just like to take the opportunity to thank him very much for his services."
