Francisco Sandaza is on the verge of joining Rangers as boss Ally McCoist continues his rebuilding job at the club. The former St Johnstone striker's agent has spent the weekend trying to thrash out a deal that will secure his signature before Rangers' year-long transfer embargo takes effect at the beginning of September. The 27-year-old has been a free agent since leaving the Perth club in the summer and has been chased by a string of suitors including Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibs. But McCoist is confident he will win the race to capture the Spanish striker before Rangers open their Third Division campaign at Peterhead this weekend "I'm hopeful there will be a deal done very, very soon," said McCoist. "The best way to put it is that Francisco hasn't signed yet but we are very keen to get him. "The agent and our representatives have been in discussions over the weekend and I'd be hopeful he'd be signing soon." Brazilian defender Emilson Cribari could be joining him at Ibrox this season after the 31-year-old impressed on trial recently. "We had him in for a couple of days, he's been training.," added McCoist. "He's having a look around the place to see if he likes it. "We would be very hopeful to get a deal done there too."
