Ally McCoist: Looking to help rebuild Rangers and guide them back to the top tier
Rangers boss Ally McCoist admits being placed in the Scottish Third Division 'is not ideal', but accepts that the Scottish Football League was left with little choice.
The Gers discovered on Friday that they will be forced to start again from the bottom of the football pyramid as a result of their much-publicised financial troubles.
Having seen their newco rejected by the Scottish Premier League, the Ibrox outfit knew there was always a chance that they would be sent to square one and asked to start all over again.
That is the situation facing the Old Firm giants and their boss, but McCoist has no qualms about leading a charge back through the divisions.
"I fully accept the decision of the SFL today and thank them for allowing us into the SFL," he said in a statement released on the club's official website.
"Clearly, starting again from the bottom league is not ideal and makes the task of rebuilding Rangers a longer one but the SFL was placed in an impossible situation and I respect its decision. "
