Defender hopes to stay at club provided SPL place is confirmed

Rangers defender Dorin Goian has revealed he would like to stay at Ibrox but admits he may be forced to consider his future if the club are not accepted back into the SPL next season. With the original club now in liquidation, the 11 remaining members of the SPL have yet to vote on whether to accept the newco, owned by Charles Green, into the top flight for next season. Such is the uncertainty created by the saga Rangers were not included when the new SPL fixtures were announced on Monday, the Glasgow giants replaced instead by 'Club 12'. Romania defender Goian, who made 33 appearances following his move from Palermo last summer, insists he would be happy to stay at the club. However, the 31-year-old admits that should Rangers be forced to play in the lower leagues, he will seek talks about his future. "I have two years left on my contract and want to come back to Rangers," Goian told the Daily Record. "But if the situation is going to be like this and we are playing in a lower division, all of the players are going to need to have a discussion with the new owner. "For every one of the players at the club it is a strange time. I just hope things settle down, but no-one has called me to tell me anything one way or another. "I'll be honest and say I'm not frustrated that I have not been called. I will try to take the opposite view and consider that no news is good news."
