Midfielder loving life with cup winners

Kilmarnock midfielder Lee Johnson believes that he made the right decision in joining the Scottish Premier League club in January. The experienced playmaker was searching for a new employer after being released by Bristol City and wasted little time in heading for Scotland on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The 30-year-old has since helped Killie to lift their first piece of silverware since 1997 and admits he is thoroughly enjoying life north of the border. "To be honest, the gaffer's enthusiasm and his plans for the future were a massive part in me coming up here when I joined," Johnson told Sky Sports. "I knew about the cup final and just the way that he likes his side to play the game, plus the carrot of adding some silverware to my tally made it an easy decision to make.

Huge feat

"We beat Rangers away in my first game, which was a huge feat because I don't think we'd done that for a while and hadn't done the double over them ever before. "The cup final capped it off for me in making sure that it was the right decision to join the club. "I've really enjoyed training and the lads have been fantastic since I joined, but it was always going to be a case of settling into the area because you've got to adapt to things like getting the kid into school and all that comes with it. "However, I'm really enjoying it up here and we've not had that many bad performances either, with the cup final topping it all off."
