Hearts striker says players are capable of blocking out pay issues

Craig Beattie admits life at Tynecastle is 'difficult' for all of those connected with Hearts, but insists the players are fully focused on their football. The SPL outfit continue to battle their way through financial difficulties, with the delayed payment of wages having been an all too familiar occurrence. Results are still being ground out on the field, though, with a 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Hibernian on Sunday cementing their top-six standing. Beattie was on target in a welcome derby success and he has been quick to hail the efforts of those charged with generating results during a tricky period for the Edinburgh-based club. He said: "It is a difficult situation which I do not want to get into. "But I think everybody saw that the Hearts players were 100 per cent committed and guys were throwing their body on the line for the team.

Assurance

"When you wake up in the morning of a derby game you forget about the lot of it and you do what you have to do to get the job done - whether you are the richest man in the world or the poorest, and whether you have been paid or not. "Come game-time I can assure the supporters and everybody else involved that there is no weakness or mental distraction to the Hearts players preparing for games." Beattie joined Hearts on a short-term deal in February and has enjoyed a productive return to his Scottish roots, grabbing two goals in his last two starts. The former Celtic striker is pleased with how things have gone so far, but insists there is still plenty more to come from him. He added: "I don't want to sound arrogant but if I get games I will score goals. There is much more to come from me and I do not see why not. "I am working on my fitness and getting back to peak and once I reach that I don't think there will be any problems finding the net."
