Assistant manager delighted with Inverness showing

Rangers assistant manager Kenny McDowall has praised the efforts of the club's players in helping those at Ibrox to battle through a testing time. Uncertainty continues to hang over the SPL outfit, with financial upheaval leading to administration and the promise of a difficult future. The Gers are currently waiting on the outcome of an administrators' review of staffing, with job losses and wage cuts having been discussed. It is, however, imperative that events off the field are not allowed to impact on performances, with the club setting their sights on a top-two finish. A 4-1 victory over Inverness on Sunday took them another step closer to that goal and McDowall has hailed the resolve of those who helped to pick up three priceless points.

Lift

"The place needed a lift and the lads were fantastic to a man," McDowall told Blues News. "It was a great performance. Inverness is a tough venue to go to at the best of times, even when you're doing well and you have not got problems, so to give us the performance they did with the goals they scored was tremendous." McDowall feels the performance of Salim Kerkar and Andrew Little typified the spirit at Ibrox. Kerkar, making his first start for the club, played a part in three of the four goals, while Little marked his first SPL start of the season with a composed finish and mature display up front. McDowall said: "Salim has been chapping at the door for a wee while now and what we got from him on Sunday is what we get from him every morning in training.
Commitment
"He is a breath of fresh air to work with and we were delighted his full debut went as well as it did. "Salim gets up and down the park ever so well and he played in a part in three of the four goals. We couldn't have asked for any more from him. "He worked his shift back defensively and he puts his head in - he got five or six stitches in the back of his head." McDowall added: "Andy has been doing really well in the last few weeks in the reserves, I think he scored five goals in two games. "He's had a long way back - he had a double hip replacement. For someone to come through that says a lot about him."
