Ling staying calm after loss

Martin Ling is refusing to panic after Gillingham condemned his Torquay side to back-to-back defeats.

The Gulls had strung together seven straight victories in their quest for a League Two promotion, but unanswered goals from Simon King and Danny Kedwell at the Priestfield Stadium came on the back of last weekend's 2-1 loss against Bradford. "It was not a good result," Ling said. "We have been on good form away from home recently and I don't think the performance was too bad but in the end it didn't run for us. "We are still in there and we will be working hard to bounce back from this. We won't shy away from it and we will be working hard to respond. "We look to play football and that won't change. I thought we could have had a couple and if the roll had gone with us we would be walking away with another three points. It doesn't always go your way though. "It is a long season and a tough league and Gillingham aren't a bad side so just because we didn't win it doesn't mean we are a bad side. We will challenge and battle and not give up to the end of the season. The performance was not all bad but we can definitely improve."
