Bhoys keen on 'The Bomber'

Rapid Vienna ready to sell striker this month

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has admitted Rapid Vienna striker Hamdi Salihi could be a target in this month's transfer window. Salihi, who is nicknamed 'The Bomber', is out of contract at the end of the season and Rapid are thought to be willing to sell him now rather than risk losing him for nothing in the summer. The 27-year-old has been likened to Nikica Jelavic, who he played with at Rapid prior to the Croatian's move to Rangers, and he has scored more goals for the Austrian club than the Ibrox star managed. Lennon is thought to be in the market for a new forward and he has revealed Albania international Salihi is on his radar. "He is a player we have known about from the Jelavic days. He might be an option," Lennon told the Daily Record. Celtic could face a battle for Salihi with a number of English clubs and Dynamo Kiev all thought to be interested in the player. Rapid Vienna coach Peter Schoettel admits they are ready to sell Salihi for the right price. "Rapid are open to having transfer talks over Hamdi. If there is a matching offer he can go," said Schoettel.
