Tynecastle defender keen to back up weekend success

Hearts match-winner Eggert Jonsson is hoping their success over St Johnstone can be the springboard for more victories. The Icelandic defender netted in the 76th minute at Tynecastle as the Edinburgh side edged out lowly Inverness 2-1. The three-point haul ended Hearts' four-game winless streak and Jonsson now wants to make it back-to-back victories against St Johnstone. With high-flying Celtic on the horizon before the festive period the 23-year-old knows there is an opportunity for Paulo Sergio's side to pick up points.

Progress

"We didn't play well, but we got the three points. We thought we'd played well for the last few games without getting the results," he told the club's official website. "The conditions were quite bad and we didn't really get in to a rhythm, but it was nice to get the win and it's a massive three points for us. It's a massive boost for us and hopefully we can push on from here. "We have another big game at home against St Johnstone next week and we need to make sure we push on from here. We need to keep progressing and get back up the table where we think we belong and show the fans what we're capable of doing. "The week after we have a tough game away against Celtic, and then we're getting in to the Christmas period so we have a chance to pick up some points."
