Dundee United captain Jon Daly believes the club's summer transfer activity is reason for optimism.
Despite completing back-to-back top-four finishes in the SPL, they have lost players such as Prince Buaben, Craig Conway, Morgaro Gomis and David Robertson.
Daly, though, thinks that manager Peter Houston's work in re-signing Willo Flood and capturing John Rankin means the future is bright.
"We have had a couple of cracking seasons and there is no reason why we can't have another one," he said in the Daily Record.
"We have lost some good players, but we have added two excellent signings in Willo and John.
"The gaffer has gone for quality rather than quantity by bringing those two in.
"Also, when you consider all the promising young players ready to push for the first team, then I'm sure we will have a squad capable of challenging."
