Midfielder sustains knee ligament damage

Hibernian have been rocked by the news that midfielder Matt Thornhill will miss the rest of the season. The January signing from Nottingham Forest suffered a knee injury late in Hibernian's 1-0 win at Aberdeen on Saturday but played until the end of the game. It has now been revealed that he sustained ligament damage and will not be able to play again this term, leaving manager Colin Calderwood to bemoan the disappointing news. Calderwood told the Edinburgh Evening News: "He's been in good form but will be out and won't play again this season - he strained his medial ligament." Hibs have struggled for consistency throughout the SPL season and are currently eighth in the standings.
