Former Rangers defender Maurice Ross is hoping to secure a return to the SPL by earning a contract at St Mirren.
Ross is currently training with St Mirren after ending a spell playing in Chinese football with Beijing Guoan.
Buddies boss Danny Lennon appears keen to offer the 30-year-old a deal, but wants to assess Ross' fitness before making a firm decision.
"If someone's in at your club then you are interested," said Lennon.
"Maurice needs to prove his fitness and we'd need to see him in a game."
