St Johnstone captain Jody Morris will be on the sidelines for the next month due to a stress fracture of his lower back.
Morris has missed the last two games due to the problem he has been carrying for some time and a scan has now shown the extent of the damage.
The former Chelsea midfielder has been advised to rest the injury and Saints boss Derek McInnes has praised Morris for playing through the pain.
McInnes told the club's official website: "It's a credit to Jody that he played with the pain for so long, putting the team before himself.
"However, he got to the point where he couldn't do it anymore as it was too painful for him and these further tests have revealed that he cannot continue without a rest of around six weeks.
"I suppose the good news is that it's already coming up for a fortnight since he played so hopefully another month of proper rest will see him involved again."
