The 22-year-old midfielder has looked a talented addition for the Bhoys following his 2009 switch from FC Seoul.

His excellent form has naturally attracted attention back home and Gwangju have hopes of securing his signature.

However, Celtic are unlikely to do business with Neil Lennon recently stating he is looking to keep his squad intact.

That has not stopped Gwangju manager Choi Man-Hee speaking about the midfielder, who he believes would raise the club's profile.

"We want to bring in a player who would give the team, the city and the whole region a major boost," said Man-Hee.

"If we were to sign Ki it would establish us as a major club. He would help us in marketing terms too because he is probably the best Korean abroad right now."
