Slovenian turned down Scottish giants

The agent of Tim Matavz has confirmed he shunned Celtic before opting to join Napoli. The FC Groningen ace will join the Italian outfit in the summer, after a deal to take him to Naples in January failed to be agreed. However, his agent Nusret Jashari has revealed that Celtic were one of the club's that failed with bids to land him. "Matavz turned down many offers to go to Napoli," Jashari told radio CRC. "We received official bids from clubs like Celtic, Schalke,Wolfsburg and Palermo, but Napoli were the preferred option. "Going to Napoli will be a great opportunity for Tim." He confirmed that a deal could not be agreed to finalise his move to Napoli in January. "On the last day of the transfer window negotiations with Napoli faltered due to a loan issue, but we have already reached an agreement to complete the transfer in July," he said. "Matavz is a great lad who has matured and done well in Holland. He has great power in his legs and will make a great partner for Edinson Cavani in the Champions League."
