Celtic have made a move for Ecuador international Christian Benitez, skysports.com can confirm.
The Bhoys have lined up a deal for the former Birmingham striker, who spent the whole of last season in England with the Blues on loan from Mexican outfit Santos Laguna.
The 24-year-old returned to Mexico last summer to sign a new three-year deal with the club and he has performed brilliantly since his move back with 17 goals.
However, he is now set for a return to Britain with Celtic leading the chase - although it is believed a number of Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation and could try and scupper their bid.
His British representative Barry McIntosh confirmed that Celtic had made a move for Benitez.
"They [Celtic] are in for him, that is correct," McIntosh told skysports.com.
"Christian performed really well for Birmingham last season and he is eager to move back to Britain."
Asked about possible interest from England, he added: "Clubs are obviously aware of him and his situation."
