Celtic defender targets top spot

Cha Du-ri is confident Celtic can bounce back from the 1-1 draw against Dundee United and win the SPL title. The Bhoys won their first eight games of the season but have struggled for consistency in recent weeks and again dropped points at the weekend. But despite having fallen three points behind Glasgow rivals Rangers, South Korea right-back Cha is not at all worried at this stage of the season. He remains convinced that Celtic will come out on top in the final reckoning and is looking forward to future Old Firm clashes. "The difference is only three points and we still have three more games against Rangers so everything is open," he told the Daily Record. "We have a good team and play good football. I'm sure we will win the championship. "We are disappointed with the draw against United but need to move on."

Club v country

Cha and compatriot Ki Sung-yong are set to play at the Asian Cup in Qatar next January but there could be a club versus country clash if South Korea want to begin their preparations early. Cha would like to face Motherwell on 29th December and then Rangers four days later before having to leave for international duty. He said: "I hope we can go to the Asia Cup a bit later - after the Rangers game."
