Celtic midfielder Shaun Maloney is targeting a recall to the Scotland squad for next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers.
Maloney was not included in Craig Levein's squad for the games against Lithuania and Liechtenstein earlier this month after an injury-ravaged campaign for the Old Firm club last season.
But Maloney has been in good form for the Hoops this term, scoring twice, and he has earned the praise of his manager Neil Lennon.
And the 27-year-old is hoping that will be enough to earn him a spot in Levein's squad for the testing games against the Czech Republic and Spain.
"I'm very hopeful that I will be in the squad but if not you respect the decision and continue to try harder for the next squad," he said.
"It's been a really good start for Scotland but to be fair I think with any national squad, no matter what predicament they are in, you are always proud and privileged to be selected so fingers crossed."
