Surgery blow for Naysmith

Huddersfield Town defender Gary Naysmith will be sidelined for four months after having surgery on his foot injury.

The 31-year old Scotland international, who turned down a new deal at Sheffield United in the summer to drop down a division and join the Terriers, ruptured a ligament and damaged a tendon on the underside of his foot in last month's Carling Cup defeat at Everton. Manager Lee Clark told the club's official website: "There's no use hiding it, losing Gary is a real blow. "In his four competitive appearances he has already shown what a fantastic addition he is to the team, but unfortunately injuries happen in football. "More than anything I'm disappointed for Gary, who has been brilliant since joining the club in the summer. "But his professionalism and desire mean he will come back stronger than ever and we're all looking forward to that."
