Defender could see out deal before joining

Rangers target Yohan Benalouane would be happy seeing out the remainder of his St Etienne contract before sealing a move to Ibrox. The 23-year-old central defender has been linked with a move to the SPL champions, but the club's £1.5million asking price has curtailed the deal. Gers boss Walter Smith is on the look-out for defensive reinforcements following Danny Wilson's Liverpool exit and has confirmed his interest in Benalouane. The French stopper's agent Philippe Flavier has held talks with Light Blues owner David Murray recently and says the defender is happy waiting on a move to the SPL if needs be. "I have spoken to David Murray in the past few days to try and establish whether Rangers have a concrete interest in Yohan. Only once that is established can we move on," he told the Daily Record. "Yohan is open to the idea of moving to Britain but right now the market is quiet in Scotland and England so we may have to be patient. But if we have to wait, we will."

Ibrox return

Meanwhile, ex-Ger Hamed Namouchi, who is looking for a new club, would be happy returning to Ibrox after being released by Freiburg. The 26-year-old failed to make the grade under Paul Le Guen and was eventually offloaded, but that has not deterred him from returning. "I am fit and looking for a club," explained Namouchi. "I would love to go back to Rangers and I wouldn't rule it out. "I played for one of the best in football - Rangers - and it would be difficult to find a better club."
