Aberdeen youngster puts pen-to-paper

Michael Paton has become the second Aberdeen youngster to commit his long-term future to the club. The 20-year-old has penned a three-and-a-half year deal and follows in Peter Pawlett's footsteps in committing to the Dons. That leaves just Fraser Fyvie and Chris Maguire to decide whether their long-term futures are at Pittodrie. Dons boss Mark McGhee is hopeful Fyvie's future will be resolved while Richard Foster has also been offered improved terms.

Delighted

"Michael is the second of the youngsters to commit which we are delighted about," explained McGhee. "We think he can improve greatly and this gives him the time to do it. "Willie Miller spoke to Fyvie again yesterday and we feel we are getting close. "We have not done any more with Maguire but still have 18 months left to do something. There are a couple of groups in the squad we perceive as having value and we have to protect the interests of the club. "Then there are the experienced ones and I'm talking to them. We've also made an improved offer to Richard Foster."
