Eddie May fears Falkirk's limited budget could mean they are unable to retain Pedro Moutinho.

Bairns boss desperate to retain Portuguese striker

Falkirk boss Eddie May fears the club's limited budget could mean they are unable to retain Pedro Moutinho. The Portuguese striker rejoined the Bairns on a short-term deal last month and has impressed during his stay. Moutinho's deal expires after Falkirk's SPL clash with St Johnstone on 2nd January. May is desperate to give Moutinho extended terms, but acknowledges there might not be the funds to persuade him to stay on.

Offer

"I'm sure Pedro will be offered something but we'll need to find out if there's any money first and foremost, to be honest," said May. "I'd like to retain Pedro but whether the finance is there I don't know. That's up to other people at the club to say there's money there. "At this moment I've said I'd like to keep him but it depends on money. Hopefully we can come to an agreement at some point with Pedro. "I'll be hoping something does happen because I think Moutinho has done very well here, but he's not going to sign for nothing, I need money to sign him."
