Hibernian manager John Hughes has played down reports that he will try to agree a pre-contract deal with Falkirk defender Darren Barr.
Hughes has been tipped to raid his former club for Barr, with Hibs' Edinburgh rivals Hearts having previously expressed an interest in the 24-year-old.
Barr is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to agree terms to extend his association with the SPL's bottom club.
Hughes brought Barr through the ranks at Falkirk before quitting as manager to take charge at Easter Road, but is not committing to making a bid for the stopper.
"He's a player that I admire, that's for sure, and I player I gave his opportunity in the first team and gave him the captain's armband," said Hughes.
"You're always looking to enhance your squad.
"We'd all love to bring certain players to the club, but it's not always possible, because of the current climate in terms of revenue and finance."
