Starlet struggling with calf problem
Motherwell midfielder Paul Slane faces a new spell on the sidelines with his calf problem.
The 17-year-old went under the knife six weeks ago to relieve pressure on his calf muscle and looked to be getting back to full fitness.
However, he suffered a recurrence of the injury and he faces a new operation.
"It's obviously a big blow for this to happen again," Slane told the club's official website.
"I had the operation not so long ago and things had been going well. I had been doing my rehabilitation with physio John Porteous and after the international break I felt ready to join in full training.
"However, it looks as if the pressure problem I've been having hasn't been just my calf, but also my shins, and I had to stop. I went back to see the surgeon the same day and he has confirmed I need another operation.
"I'll hopefully have it soon though so I can get back to concentrating on football. I can't tell you how disappointing it has been."
