Plymouth have signed Cillian Sheridan on a six-month loan deal from Celtic.

Sturrock delighted to land Celtic hit-man

Plymouth have signed Cillian Sheridan on loan from Celtic. As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Plymouth were lining up a loan deal for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international. Sheridan, who had a spell on loan at Motherwell last season, has initially joined Plymouth until the end of December with a view to the deal being extended until the end of the campaign. The 20-year-old is set to go straight into Plymouth's squad for this weekend's home clash with Queens Park Rangers. Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock was delighted to land Sheridan and believes he will add an extra dimension to his squad. "He is here to score goals, to header the ball, to be a threat and I'm sure he will be. "He's rangy, big, quick, a leftie. He went out at Motherwell last season and did very well in several positions, and I feel he would benefit the team. "He is here to play, if he comes up to the standards I think he can achieve. He has got a few strings to his bow. He played wide left for Motherwell in a few games, so he's adaptable."
