Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo has confirmed his interest in signing Falkirk captain Darren Barr.
The SPL club have been tracking defender Barr since losing skipper Christophe Berra to Wolves in January.
Laszlo is eager to add Barr to his squad before the new season, although Falkirk have warned the 24-year-old could prove a pricey acquisition.
"Barr is a very good player. For the past six months we have had an interest," Laszlo said in the Daily Record.
"He is Scottish and we must look to bring more home players to the team. I am happy the board is giving us the opportunity to search for somebody."
New Falkirk manager Eddie May considers Barr to be worth similar to Hearts winger Andrew Driver, who is valued in the region of £6million.
May said in the Herald: "Darren is definitely a player that we want to keep for the new season. If anyone wants to take Darren from this club then it would have to be a substantial bid.
"If Hearts are asking for £6million for Driver then we would want the equivalent money for Darren, who is a full Scottish internationalist."
