Hibs boss keen to retain captain's services

Hibernian boss John Hughes has not given up hope of keeping captain Rob Jones at the club this summer. Jones has admitted he would like to finish his career in England and has just one year remaining on his contract at Easter Road. Hughes, who took charge of the SPL club following Mixu Paatelainen's departure at the end of last season, has already seen striker Steven Fletcher depart for Burnley in a £3million deal. Championship clubs Nottingham Forest, Ipswich, Derby, Bristol City and Swansea have all been credited with an interest in Jones. But Hughes has not yet conceded defeat in his efforts to persuade the 29-year-old, who has one year remaining on his current contract, to commit his immediate future to the club. He told the Daily Record: "I've spoken to Rob and as yet nothing has really changed. "Until something happens that changes his situation I will keep trying to get the best out of him and making sure he enjoys being about the club."
