Rangers duo Maurice Edu and Kevin Thomson look set to miss the start of the new SPL season.
Edu has had a successful operation after sustaining knee ligament damage against Dundee United.
However, the American midfielder is expected to be sidelined for at least three months as he battles back to full fitness.
He has also been forced to withdraw from the USA squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica and Honduras and the Confederations Cup later this month.
Thomson is also unlikely to be ready for the start of the new campaign despite making good progress in his recovery from a cruciate injury.
It is thought the 24-year-old could be back in action some time in September.
