Defender ends 13-year stay at Tynecastle to move south

Leicester City have confirmed the signing of defender Robbie Neilson on a free transfer from Hearts. Neilson has signed a pre-contract agreement to join the Foxes on a three-year deal after spending over a decade with Hearts. Foxes boss Nigel Pearson is confident the 28-year-old will prove to be an astute addition to his squad ahead of next season's campaign in the Championship. Pearson told the club's official website: "We are absolutely delighted to have secured Robbie for the football club. "He will bring quality, experience and a winning mentality, all of which we have no doubt will enhance our squad for the season ahead. "On meeting with Robbie, his leadership qualities were obvious. We are continuing our policy of only signing players who genuinely want to play for Leicester, and Robbie certainly fits that criteria."

Fantastic support

Neilson admits it was a difficult decision to end his spell at Tynecastle and has offered his gratitude to the club after making almost 250 appearances for the Jambos. "I have really enjoyed my time at Hearts and would like to thank all the supporters, staff and players who have provided fantastic support to me over the years," Neilson told Hearts' official website. "It's an extremely difficult decision leave a club which has been such an influence on my career and Tynecastle will always hold a special place in my heart. "I'd like to wish Hearts every success in the future and hope the club continues to progress to the ultimate goal of league glory. "Once again, thank you for your fantastic support over 13 unforgettable years of my career."
