Jefferies to speak with Lilley and Clancy

David Lilley and Tim Clancy are poised to open contract negotiations with Kilmarnock. Manager Jim Jefferies had not wanted to discuss new deals with his players until Killie had secured their SPL survival. Sunday's 1-0 victory over Inverness ensured they will not be relegated this season and Jefferies is now ready to sit down with Lilley and Clancy. Both players are out of contract this summer but have impressed in recent months after recovering from injuries. And Jefferies has been pleased with the performances of experienced defender Lilley and 24-year-old full-back Clancy. "I'll be sitting down with players to discuss contracts fairly soon as I don't want it to drag on. We've got one or two that are out of contract that I'll need to have a chat with to see what they are thinking," said Jefferies.

Good finish

"David is out of contract, but he wants to stay. He has had a really good finish to the season. He had a few problems with injuries, but he's played in the last 13 matches and has done really well for us. "I've spoken with his agent and we've had a brief chat, so we'll meet up sometime next week. "Tim is also keen to stay and the chairman and his agent have spoken. Tim has done well recently. The injuries he's had have delayed his progress as it took him a while to come back. "We had a wee chat and I stuck to my word by giving him his chance and he's taken it."
