Hearts goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald has signed a new deal at Tynecastle.

The 22-year-old has inked a three-year extension to keep him in Edinburgh until 2012.

MacDonald, who has made seven appearances for Hearts this season, was delighted to pledge his long-term future to the club.

"I'm absolutely delighted to get it sorted. It's obviously good to sign a three-year deal as it's a bit of comfort for me," MacDonald told the Edinburgh Evening News.

"I know where I'm going to be for the next three years and hopefully I can force my way towards being No.1 now and play every week.

"Since the 2005-06 season, I've been involved with the first team and then I went out on loan.

"I'm 23 this month and I think now it's time for me to really push on and stake a claim for that No.1 jersey. My birthday's in a few weeks so I'm just happy to sign this new deal."
