George Burley is hoping Stephen McManus will be fit for Scotland's 2010 World Cup qualifying double-header against Holland and Iceland.
McManus missed Celtic's 2-2 draw with Dundee United on Sunday due to an ankle injury and is rated doubtful for Saturday's game in Holland.
The defender will link up with the Scotland squad on Monday and Burley is not ruling McManus out of his plans for the key clash with the Dutch.
Burley told the Scottish Sun: "I knew he wasn't going to be playing, but he's not definitely out of Saturday's game.
"We'll have a roll call on Monday and see who's fit. Our medical people will assess the situation."
Meanwhile, Celtic boss Gordon Strachan says he has no qualms in McManus joining up with the national squad to have his injury assessed.
Strachan said after the draw at Tannadice: "Stephen had no chance of making this game. It's his ankle.
"He has to go along to Scotland now and he wants to play. Mick will give it the best shot he can.
"If you know Stephen, he wants to go along to the international and play. I'm happy for him to go along."
