Falkirk boss John Hughes has admitted it was a huge relief that prized asset Scott Arfield did not leave the club in the January transfer window.
Skysports.com revealed that a host of clubs were chasing the Scottish Under-21 international.
However, no bids materialised and Arfield remains at the Falkirk Stadium.
"I've been reading that Scott is one of the bright boys of Scottish football and he is certainly that," said boss John Hughes.
"If anyone had phoned me about Scott, I would have been forced to admit that I love working with him. The way he applies himself is infectious.
"I can only pass on my experience of the right way to be a professional.
"You must aim to be the best you can be - and Scott does that.
"We were hoping we would get through the transfer window without an offer for him because Scott still has a lot to learn at this club."
